HELP MANGAGOY/BISLIG
[entry taken from Joey's blog]
October 3, 2006. Bislig, Surigao del Sur. a massive fire ate up approximately 3000 households in the public market area of the seaside city of Bislig Surigao del Sur. Many of the affected are small scale merchants who live on the stores surrounding the public market, and fishermen who rely heavily on the public market for deals. This is the biggest fire in the history of the town, rendering around 15000 people homeless and with little supply of food. The town is still in shock. As of this writing, rescue and relief operations are being done to find the bodies of those trapped in the fire. The town depends on the public market for their daily supply of food, and with the market now gone, they will need every help they can get. Bislig is five hours away from Davao and Butuan.

Hi Dot...
I heard the news from my cousin evangeline and i called my mom to know how the fire started. Then on saturday I saw the footages ( sunog sa mangagoy) as i watched i was like shock as in grabeh nalooy ko sa mga tao, I felt their pain too to those people who have lost their business and homes. Nakahilak jud ko pagkakita sa footage. My uncle's house and their business naapil pud ug sunog. Ni isa gamit wala siya nakuha. Only his shirt ang sout niya that day. My dad helped my uncle pero dili makaya tungod sa kabug-at nga gamit ug kangitngit sa balay. I went to church and included them to my prayers. Ng hunahuna ko kun mag unsa nalang ang mga tao mostly sa mga naapektuhan sa sunog. I gave some money to my mom to donate and give it to church. Atleast nakatabang ko ginagmay sa pamaagi man lang ni ani.
God bless...
